 President Mahama nominates 12 more regional and sectoral ministers.



President John Dramani Mahama has submitted the names of 12 nominees to Parliament for review and approval by the Appointments Committee.
The nominees comprise three Regional Ministers and nine Sector Ministers, representing a diverse group of experienced politicians, professionals, and public servants dedicated to promoting the nation's development goal.



The appointments, which cover important regions and ministries, are anticipated to help the administration focus on governance, infrastructure, youth development, and economic change.


Regional Ministers Nominees

Wilbert Petty Brentum - Western North Region.









Mr Brentum is a politician and chartered accountant with experience in mining and local politics. He has had technical and regulatory jobs in the mining industry and previously served as an Assembly Member in the Juaboso District.

Eduamoah Ekow Panyin Okyere – Central Region

Mr Okyere is an educator and management specialist with over 20 years of expertise. He is a two-term MP for Gomoa East and presently heads the Centre for Artisan and Apprentice Development, where his ideas have benefited thousands of craftspeople.

Joseph Nelson - Western Region















Mr Nelson, a public servant with a background in finance and economic management, has previously worked in Ghana and the United Kingdom. He is a former Regional Director of the Youth Employment Agency and has postgraduate degrees in International Finance, Economic Policy, and Microfinance.

Nominations for Ministers by Sector:

Kwame governs Agbodza (MP) – Ministry of Roads and Highways

Hon. Agbodza has considerable experience overseeing projects in health care, education, and housing both in Ghana and overseas. He is an architect who serves as the Majority Chief Whip in Parliament.

Eric Opoku (MP) - Ministry of Food and Agriculture









Hon. Opoku is an agricultural, legal, and leadership specialist with over 12 years of legislative experience. He is now a Ranking Member on the Food, Agriculture, and Cocoa Affairs Committee.

Agnes Naa Momo Lartey (MP), Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection

Hon. Lartey, a development specialist and lawmaker, has over 20 years of expertise in government, education, and women's rights.







Abla Dzifa Gomashie (MP) - Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts

Hon. Gomashie, a creative arts supporter and two-term MP, has extensive experience promoting Ghanaian culture and tourism.

Emelia Arthur (MP) — Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture


Hon. Arthur is a development professional with experience in local government and natural resource management. She has collaborated with top international institutions on policy and capacity-building projects.


George Opare-Addo, Minister of Youth Development and Empowerment.


Mr Opare-Addo, a lawyer and skilled party organizer, has previously served as the Municipal Chief Executive for Akuapem North and the National Youth Organiser of the NDC.

Haruna Iddrisu (MP), Ministry of Education











Hon. Iddrisu is a seasoned politician and former Minister of Communication. He has held parliamentary leadership positions, including Majority and Minority Leader.

Ahmed Ibrahim (MP) - Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs

Hon. Ibrahim is a politician with a background in finance and public administration, having taken office in 2009.

Elizabeth Ofosu Adjare (MP)- Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry


Hon. Adjare, a lawyer and former Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, has extensive legal and international relations expertise.


Next steps

The nominees have been formally presented to Parliament for approval by Speaker Alban Bagbin. The Appointments Committee will thoroughly scrutinize the applicants, evaluating their credentials, track records, and alignment with national interests.
