Restoring Peace in Bawku: President Mahama's Important Appointments This Week



President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E John Dramani Mahama, has announced that, based on current circumstances in Bawku and enclaves, the new NDC government will make the necessary appointments this week so that Ministers and other security officials can take charge.


Addressing the people of Bawku, who are determined to end the decades-long conflict over the possession of the Bawku skin, which represents chiefly authority in the Bawku traditional area, President Mahama promised to appoint a Minister of Defence, Interior, the National Security Advisor, the National Security Coordinator, and the BNI Director, among others, within this week.






He emphasized that when such appointments are made, he will direct them to make Bawku one of the top objectives for peace.
Background
During my campaign in 2024, I stated that if God provided me the position of President of the country, establishing peace in Bawku would be one of my top goals. I chose to visit Bawku today and tell everyone that my government will work tirelessly to restore peace." Mahama is president.

"Remember when I was President of Ghana? Bawku and surrounding areas were very peaceful, work was going on, and people were going about their duties. It is sad that today, this situation occurred again, " the president stated. 




He went on to say that for the past three years, the inhabitants of Bawku have been unable to sleep and have been fleeing under stress. As said, the NDC is restoring peace to Bawku so that everyone may go about their daily lives without fear of being harassed.
"I appealed to the people of Bawku to exercise patients, exercise restraints, promised to deal with issues, stated he has trust in himself as President and his administration that by the Grace of God, permanent peace is going to come back to Bawku and enclaves." He insisted.
