President John Mahama has proclaimed that "Ghana is open for business again," encouraging Chinese investors to explore economic potential in the nation. He made the statements at the Chinese Lantern Festival Gala in Accra, which celebrated Chinese culture's rich traditions while also commemorating Ghana-China diplomatic relations for 65 years.
President Mahama addressed an assembly of government officials, business executives, and members of Ghana's Chinese community, emphasizing the country's commitment to creating a more favorable investment climate. He emphasized the importance of Chinese enterprises in Ghana's economic development, highlighting their efforts in construction, manufacturing, agriculture, and commerce.
"China has been a key development partner of Ghana, contributing to critical sectors such as energy, health, and education," according to President Mahama. "As we rebuild our economy, I invite our Chinese investor community to look at the opportunities Ghana has to offer so that we can create a win-win situation for our two people," he stated at the University of Ghana Stadium on Sunday, February 9.
He stated that Ghana's long-standing relationship with China has matured into a strategic alliance in which both countries gain from commerce, infrastructural development, and cultural interaction. He also commended the increased number of Ghanaian enterprises seeking prospects in China, which is improving economic connections.
As Ghana works to restore its economy in the face of global uncertainty, President Mahama told investors that the government is committed to creating a business-friendly environment. He advocated for more collaboration in technology transfer, industrialization, and education, emphasizing the need of shared progress in achieving long-term development.
