The Ghanaian entrepreneurs have also been enormously concerned with inflation and exchange rate volatility, Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson said.
Reading the 2025 Budget and Economic Policy reading in Parliament, Dr. Forson added that following engagements with traders at big markets like the Makola Market, traders indicated currency depreciation and price volatility as their greatest concern. He explained that the consultation was for him to hear the traders' complaints, manage their expectations, and synchronize their perceptions with the government's economic policy. The widespread consultations confirmed the overriding preoccupation of Ghanaian business and the traders, and continue to remain price and exchange rate volatility,'' he said.
Along with the traders' issue, the Finance Minister also disclosed that the government will settle 321 pharmacists' salary arrears, which had been delayed since they began in June 2023.
