GCTU Vice Chancellor Confirms the University's Leadership in Technology-Based Education in Ghana.


 


Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU) reclaimed its position as the nation's most technologically inclined learning institution in the 34th Matriculation Ceremony, where Vice-Chancellor Professor Emmanuel Ohene Afoakwa led the welcome procession of the freshers to a historic welcome address. The university celebrated its heightened emphasis on ICT and business excellence studies and laid the ground for a groundbreaking scholarly experience for the freshers on Saturday, 22nd February 2025.

Prof. Afoakwa, in his opening remarks, sincerely welcomed the students matriculating and stated that they were privileged to be in Ghana's highest ICT institution. He described the matriculation ceremony as a ramp to opportunity and knowledge through which the students would be groomed to be professionals, innovators, and future leaders.








"GCTU's joining, an organization that is continuously seeking to be at the forefront of teaching, research, and industry interface, is a sound decision. GCTU has been at the forefront of ICT education since its conception on day one, having made significant contributions to technological innovation in Ghana and the world at large," opined Prof. Afoakwa. "Welcome to Ghana's Silicon Valley—Ghana's Information Communication Technology hub."


Expansion and Accreditation of Programmes


In reference to the expansion of the university, Prof. Afoakwa made public GCTU's latest accreditation by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) to operate certain new and employment-market-based programs. The newly accredited academic programs are a clear testament to the vision of the university to impart skills prevailing today in an effort to tackle the challenges of the evolving global labor market.
