Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has engaged market women, including head porters commonly called ‘kayayei’ and other traders at Makola Market, to discuss their concerns and expectations ahead of the 2025 Budget presentation on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. Describing the interaction as a privilege, Dr. Forson acknowledged the critical role these traders play in sustaining Ghana’s economy.

The discussions, led by his deputy, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, focused on critical economic concerns that small-scale merchants face, such as inflation, taxation, and loan availability. Dr. Forson told them that their concerns will be considered when developing policies for the forthcoming budget. Their expectations ahead of Budget 2025 will help shape our shared future." Meanwhile, the administration has accepted the fiscal policy paper for 2025, which will be officially submitted to Parliament on March 11.This decision, announced during a special Cabinet meeting on Friday, March 7, demonstrates the administration's commitment to economic stability and long-term prosperity.
