Rwanda's President hails Trump's 'unconventional' USAID closure.

Rwandan President Paul Kagame replied to President Donald Trump's proposals to end a huge US government aid program that has paid millions of dollars to his country in an interview with CNN.

"President Trump has an unconventional way of doing things," Kagame remarked in an interview with CNN correspondent Larry Madowo on Monday. "I completely agree with him on many things."

Trump has often stated that the US Agency for International Development (USAID) should be shut down and that taxpayer funding should no longer be sent to help and relief operations worldwide. He had stated to reporters on Sunday that USAID is "run by radical lunatics."

When asked by a CNN reporter to explain how the USAID shutdown will effect Rwanda, Kagame stated that the country may profit from the stoppage of USAID payments.

"I think from being hurt, we might learn some lessons," he told us.

Trump, together with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who also leads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has targeted USAID and other government agencies for increased scrutiny for excessive expenditure.

However, Trump's attempts to put 2,200 employees of the United States Agency for International Development on leave were thwarted by a court order.

U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols, a Trump appointee, also agreed to suspend an order that would have allowed the administration only 30 days to place hundreds of foreign USAID workers on administrative leave and relocate their families to the United States at taxpayer cost.

Trump has also indicated that DOGE, which is in charge of reducing government spending and waste and streamlining operations, will investigate the Education Department and the Pentagon.
