Allegations of Corruption Cause Trauma for Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta

According to Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta is in a great deal of grief as a result of the latest accusations made against him.

Afenyo-Markin disclosed during a Thursday Parliamentary session that he spoke candidly with Ofori-Atta, who conveyed his personal distress over the disparaging labels being applied to him. According to Afenyo-Markin, "the negative adjectives used to describe him have traumatized him." But knowing that God is with him, he continues to hold tight to his faith. He is receiving medical care at the moment.

The announcement by the Office of the Special Prosecutor that Ofori-Atta is wanted in relation to multiple corruption investigations caused the situation to worsen. Afenyo-Markin told Parliament, however, that the former minister has not left the nation but has really flown outside for medical reasons with the appropriate permits. "The Chief of Staff verified that Ofori-Atta had shared his ideas with me earlier today. He will completely assist with any inquiries and plans to return," he underlined.

A joint police and military raid on Ofori-Atta's Cantonments home earlier this week heightened the controversy around him. Mahama Ayariga, the Majority Leader, has criticized the operation, calling the raid "regrettable and unfortunate."

According to Hon. Ayariga, who was speaking to Parliament, the operation was headed by someone who was allegedly connected to the office of the National Security Coordinator.

In addition, the Bawku Central MP apologized to Ofori-Atta and reaffirmed the government's dedication to protecting basic human rights, including as privacy and property integrity.
