Ghana's former President Nana Akufo-Addo paid a heartfelt tribute to Sam Nujoma, Namibia's first president and founding father. Akufo-Addo expressed profound sadness over Nujoma's death at the age of 95 in Windhoek, describing him as a champion of African liberation whose legacy will live on.
In a tribute posted on "X" (formerly Twitter), Akufo-Addo referred to Nujoma as an African liberation hero whose legacy would inspire future generations.
"I am deeply saddened by the death of H.E. Dr. Sam Nujoma," Akufo-Addo said, adding that his role in creating a secure and democratic nation and his heroic leadership in Namibia's fight for independence from South Africa would be celebrated for years to come. "I join many Africans around the world in conveying my condolences," Akufo-Addo said, extending his condolences to President Nangolo Mbumba, the Namibian people, and Nujoma's family.
