The Parliament Minority has accused the National Security Secretariat officials of conducting unlawful raids on political rivals and asserted that some of its staff members have employed theft along the way.
Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, at a Thursday press conference, decried what he described as a "Rambo-style" in which security officials stormed the residence of former Governor of Bank of Ghana Dr. Ernest Addison, on Wednesday, March 19. For him, security officials who stormed Dr. Addison's house in Accra, removed GH₵10,000. Unfortunately for the Governor, some GH¢10,000 cedis cash on his bed was not discovered."
Further, he claimed that ornaments on Dr. Addison's wife, including earrings and necklaces, were removed from her during the raid. His assertion follows a raid on the home of former BoG Governor, Ernest Addison, at Roman Ridge in Accra, allegedly by National Security officials. The Effutu MP, again, hinted that the operatives who undertook such operations were politically motivated and possibly not paid; therefore, they stole from their victims.
"Those of these starving party foot soldiers, who parade themselves as national security agents, are even being paid, so they use these so-called operations as a way of stealing," he also said.

He expressed outrage at what he believes is a record level of abuse of authority, stating it is the first time in Ghana that the former central bank governor is being treated in such a way.
The minority also accused the government of deploying national security men to intimidate political opposition leaders, particularly appointees of the previous president, Nana Akufo-Addo. This lawlessness must end. The government has used national security personnel against their opponents, even more so appointees of ex-President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo," Afenyo-Markin asserted. He called on the government to stop these acts immediately and ensure national security personnel operate within the bounds of the law, and not as political harassers."
