National Chief Imam expresses congratulation to Afetsi Awoonor, the new MD of BOST.

On Monday, January 27, 2025, the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, made a courtesy call on Mr. Afetsi Awoonor, the newly appointed Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transport Company (BOST).

The visit to BOST's Head Office in Accra was both personal and professional, with the Chief Imam congratulating Mr. Awoonor on his historic appointment as the youngest CEO in BOST's history.

The meeting had a strong sense of familiarity, which stemmed from their families' longstanding history. Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, a close friend of Mr. Awoonor's late father, the esteemed Professor Kofi Awoonor, referred to the newly appointed CEO as a son and expressed pleasure in his extraordinary accomplishment.

Mr. Awoonor's appointment is a watershed moment for BOST, as his previous experience as a manager and vast understanding of the energy industry position him as a forward-thinking leader. The Chief Imam praised his selection, citing President John Dramani Mahama's strong faith and confidence in him. He reminded Mr. Awoonor of his new role's substantial obligations, as well as the expectations of both the administration and the Ghanaian people.

During the visit, Sheikh Sharubutu gave Mr. Awoonor and his management team sound advice and words of encouragement, emphasizing the significance of devotion, honesty, and a commitment to service. He urged the team to fulfill their task with attention and creativity, citing BOST's crucial position in Ghana's energy industry. The visit concluded with a prayer by the Chief Imam, who asked for divine blessings and guidance for Mr. Awoonor and the whole BOST leadership.

Mr. Awoonor thanked the Chief Imam for his visit and appreciated the enormous honor and responsibility that came with his position. He promised to manage BOST with dedication and creativity, to preserve President Mahama's faith in him, and to strive toward the company's strategic goals.
