CDS Africa Commends President Mahama’s Call for Immediate Investigation into 2020 and 2024 Election Deaths

One of the top civil society groups in Africa dedicated to supporting democracy and safety on the continent, CDS Africa, welcomed with open hearts President John Mahama's initiative for a timely investigation into election-related deaths for 2020 and 2024. Transparency and accountability, insists the group, are at the heart of cementing democratic processes. CDS Africa, in a public statement, has welcomed President Mahama's blunt stand and greeted it as an important step in the direction of justice and democratic integrity. "This means that there is hope to learn about what led to the eventuation of the tragedy and turn such a tragedy into a once-a-century occurrence in the future," the organization explained.

The necessity of holding those in power responsible in an attempt to rebuild public trust in the democratic process was emphasized by CDS Africa. A probe, they went on, will not only improve Ghana's record in terms of democracy but also be in the interests of the families of the victims.

Aside from the question, CDS Africa also urged the government to address whatever structural vulnerabilities caused the violence with further wide-ranging election reforms. They advocated for a partnership between security institutions, political parties, and civil society to guarantee that future elections are more equitable and secure.

The fact that CDS Africa praised President Mahama for calling for an investigation into electioneering-related deaths says a great deal about how much justice and reform would take a Ghanaian democracy. The action is viewed as a giant one in its pursuit of realizing peace and stability in all of the nation's election processes.
