The minority has not been pleased with the conduct of the majority in Parliament to prevent the Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Ernest Yaw Kumi, from presenting a statement in Parliament.
The majority caucus is of the view that the convict on whom a bench warrant has been issued cannot be allowed to present a statement.
Responding to the Friday, February 21 news media, the caucus leader was displeased with what the Majority had accomplished.
"The convention is that after you have made your point, you shut up and allow your counterpart to also make his point, but what did we see? The Majority Chief Whip interrupted me, and when again they saw that their argument on the floor of the house were losing, now the Majority himself got up and shouted, Mr. Speaker, adjourn," he noted.
He also indicated that he had not received any information about any court process against Mr Kumi.
"I am the leader on our side, I have not been invited to a meeting where I have been told that the process has been served. So I don't know what the NDC is up to," he also said.
The threat was also communicated by the president to the minority in the government's first State of the Nation address on Thursday, 27th February 2025.
"They have forgotten they are in power, we've reminded them we will remind them that next Thursday, the President is coming into the chamber and if they haven't done any business by the time the President gets there we know what can be done right, for NDC, that they are enlisting Ernest Kumi to politicize, this is Friday.".
The arrest warrant on Ernest Yaw Kumi on February 11 was from a High Court at Koforidua after it found him guilty of contempt of court.
A bench warrant for the arrest of Kumi was issued after he did not appear in court.
